Sacred (Different Kind of Life)

🎵 "Look me in the eyes, no compromise, I want a di-di-different kind of life."

I woke up with this melody in my head in 2019. I couldn’t even get myself to the bathroom in the morning before having to write down lyrics. It’s a song that overpowered every agenda I had for the day and finished itself in the course of a week.

I guess it makes sense it pushed me so hard in a different direction since it’s completely about pushing oneself into a completely di-di-different new direction, new life, and new agenda for what beauty, sex, success, and approval looks like.

I think I tried so hard to make it in the ten years after Times Square that i burned out so hard and when Jesus came into the picture I took to this new way of life so hard it was fuel for a fiery inferno of disappointed dreams I left in the wake of my finding faith again.

This song feels like a firearm pointed at every false idea I had about what it meant to be beautiful and belong to the world. It’s about taking back the simple and sacred point of view of everything in life and trampling on the perverted, twisted logic of what beauty and sexiness and sexuality should be. Beauty and sexiness and sexuality are NOT things to be ‘used’, or bought or sold or coerced or manipulated. They are not vehicles for DOING something, they are vessels for HOLDING something … and not just anything, but love.

“Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,”

1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭NASB

“Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭TPT‬‬
